PCT Day 4: Inspiration In The Simplicity

First off, it’s MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY! And today I pondered what has been keeping me going through the pain of thru hiking.

There’s a quote and it goes “When life gets hard, sometimes you just need a change of altitude”. Lol get it? Like change of attitude but rather you can climb mountains and change elevation?

Sorrrrryyyyy I’m so cheesy I know. But these quotes I store in my brain from pintrest really stick with me. Especially while I’m hiking. If you know me well, you know I’m constantly quoting people and it’s a tried and true hobby of mine.

And you may know that I have a passion for food. Yes you need food to live, but I live for food. Trail life isn’t the most glamorous lifestyle for good eats.. But I think it gives you a stronger appreciation for simple meals that you don’t typically have while you’re out there.

For example this salad was probably the best salad I’ve ever had. Now was it actually the best salad ever? Definitely not. But when you’re caught up with eating trail mix, mashed potatoes, and ramen for a week straight.. I mean this is like gold in comparison.

And lastly, the views… I mean look at this. There’s nothing like hiking all day long, and ending off at the top of a mountain to enjoy a beautiful sunset. And then I can enjoy a quick hot dinner and snuggle into my tent.

It’s really the little things that make a huge difference in a hike. Sometimes the simple moments added up over time end up being the best parts of the journey. The mundane forgotten details. I’m looking forward to seeing what mundane things motivate me to keep on going.

So that’s all for today’s entry. I’ll be writing on Trail Talk Tuesday in the next entry for Tuesday 4/15. Thank you so much for reading.
